Claire Anderson elected chair of the Dean's Graduate Student Advisory Council

Working to increase transparency and communication on multiple levels
Claire Anderson

Claire Anderson (PhD student, Civil and Environmental Engineering) has been elected as chair of the Dean’s Graduate Student Advisory Council (DGSAC) for 2022-2023.

DGSAC works to consolidate graduate student opinions and increase bilateral communication between graduate students and leaders within the School of Engineering. The council’s goal is to work in partnership with school leaders to build a positive, inclusive, and equitable climate for graduate student learning and life. DGSAC is made up of PhD and Master’s students, with 2-3 students representing each department within the School of Engineering. Previous DGSAC initiatives include creating Individual Development Plans as well as creating the JEDI awards. This quarter, they have established four subcommittees within the council: Master’s students; PhD students; Diversity, equity, and inclusion; and Communication, support, and mentorship.

Claire is also working to increase DGSAC council transparency. If you are a CEE graduate student interested in becoming involved in the council or graduate student leadership, or if you have any suggestions for the council, please reach out!
