Note for students admitted to the 2020-21 cohort: If you need to defer your admission to a later start date due to COVID-19, the last day to submit this request is August 31, 2020. Please email cee-admissions@lists.stanford.edu to request a deferral.

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program is open to all applicants who have completed a bachelor’s degree or will have completed one before matriculating as a graduate student at Stanford.

The Master of Science (MS) program is intended to be a terminal degree for those seeking advanced knowledge in a focused discipline of civil and environmental engineering to pursue a career in industry or another professional degree (e.g., law, business).

The coterminal degree program allows outstanding Stanford undergraduates to study for a master's degree while completing their bachelor's degree(s) in the same or a different department.

Prospective undergraduates interested in studying engineering should apply to Stanford University through the Undergraduate Admission Office.
