Stanford wins 1st Place at the 2025 Regions 6 & 7 Associated Schools of Construction Student Competition
Stanford's 2025 Team reclaimed the throne at the 38th annual ASC Regions 6 & 7 Student Competition (Open Category - Integrated Project) in Reno, Nevada on Feb 5-8, 2025. This marks the university’s 12th win in the past 15 years.
This year, a Stanford team by the name of Team Clark entered this year's competition with a project called Arctic Rescue Rollercoaster. The Clark Team provided 15 real-world construction issues, and the competing teams worked intensively for 15 hours to deliver their solutions. The next day, the teams displayed a unified front of collective knowledge through the owner’s meeting (no presentation allowed) when the competition judges did everything to test team members on their knowledge and understanding of the project. Stanford Team 1 was officially selected as the winning team out of a national field of 13 schools; however, this was a collective victory for all participating students and faculty members of Stanford University.
Two teams, comprising 14 students, participated in over 20 hours of training (above their coursework) in the month of January on topics including contract structure, scheduling, estimating, and other essential project and construction management skills. The preparation included an all day mock competition hosted by members of Team 2024.
- Team 1: Lavinia Pedrollo (Project Manager), Vishnu Murali, Michele Tsujimoto, Cayden Luby, Hisataka Hongu, Carlos Espriu, and Dayana Bulatbekova (Alternate).
- Team 2: Chween An Beh (Project Manager), Jessica Chen, Keith Sutton, Alvaro Bazan, Sarah Hill, Yasser AlShareef, and Abhishek Vijayan (Alternate).
Stanford’s success at ASC is the result of students' commitment to non-credit extra preparation work for the competition, support from the Sustainable Design and Construction program in CEE, and training from coach Jane Lin and alumni mentors Darryl Goodson, Peter Worhunsky, Julia Lind, and Tony Hall. Mentorship from the 2024 team and support from faculty members were also paramount to providing an unparalleled learning experience for the student teams.
Go Stanford!
