Stanford Urban Resilience Initiative (SURI) seminar and networking night
An event centered on bringing students, faculty, alumni and practitioners to deepen conversation about urban resilience.
During Fall Quarter, the Stanford Urban Resilience Initiative (SURI) facilitated the SURI Disaster Resilience Seminar (CEE 209S).
The course highlighted topics like natural hazards (earthquakes, wildfires, storms), post-disaster response, risk communication, socio-economic impacts, and catastrophe insurance. Esteemed speakers from diverse backgrounds shared current research, best practices, and innovative strategies for the future of disaster resilience.
Additionally, under Emily Mongold’s leadership, the SURI Student Council orchestrated SURI Networking Night on November 8. The event aimed to foster connections in the area of urban resilience and was open to students, faculty, alumni, and practitioners. Read more about SURI here.
