Staff Spotlight: Rachel Stringari
As the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Degree Progress and Curriculum Management in CEE, Rachel provides support to students in the department’s various undergraduate programs. Much of her work involves connecting students with essential resources, collaborating with faculty to maintain programs, and ensuring students have access to advising resources that support their academic and career goals.Currently in the midst of her third year at Stanford, Rachel has found it to be a busy and enriching journey. She began her career in the Chemical Engineering department, where she supported the student services team and progressed to the position of Student Affairs Coordinator. In addition to managing the undergraduate program and advising undergraduate students, she provided department support for graduate and undergraduate student-led organizations. Rachel greatly appreciates that the ChemE team recognized her drive and supported her growth, which allowed her to transition to CEE last fall. In her current role, she truly feels she is where she belongs, and is excited to be making a meaningful impact through her work.Rachel finds it inspiring to support Stanford's engineering students, and says “it’s fascinating to learn about their aspirations and the innovative work they are pursuing. They possess a vision for a better future, and it motivates me to know that my efforts contribute to advancing their ambitions.” She remembers the challenges of navigating college as a student, which motivates her to ensure that CEE students can focus on their coursework, rather than struggle with Stanford's academic policies and program requirements.Entering a new role brings its own challenges, and Rachel has hit the ground running! She is focused on gathering information and identifying stress points within CEE processes, as well as collaborating with students, faculty, and staff to implement solutions that streamline operations. She is enjoying getting to know the various individuals who support CEE, and is excited to listen to their insights.Working for Stanford Engineering is special for many reasons, but Rachel believes two stand out: the strong sense of community and the opportunity for global impact. She explains, “the collaborative environment at Stanford fosters innovation and creativity, allowing me to work alongside dedicated individuals who are equally passionate about making a difference. I feel fortunate to partake in this vibrant community, where ideas flourish, and connections are made. Moreover, being part of an institution that leads in global research and innovation provides a unique perspective on the power of engineering to solve pressing challenges. Knowing that the work we do can have lasting effects on communities around the world inspires me daily.” It’s this sense of purpose and possibility that makes her work in CEE not just a job, but a fulfilling journey.
