Professor Khalid Osman is awarded Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability Excellence in Community Award
Prof. Osman serves as CEE’s Director for Access and Belonging and co-chairs the department’s ABC Committee while maintaining a full research and teaching load. He has helped create a healthy culture inside and beyond Stanford over the last 4 years. Indeed, he has actively partnered with groups such as Nuestra Casa in East Palo Alto and We the People of Detroit, working alongside them to meet identified community needs. He sits on the board of Partnerships for Climate Justice in the Bay, connecting the Doerr School to frontline communities in the region. Students, postdocs, and faculty members who have worked with Prof. Osman all have noted his inclusive approach to scientific research, mentorship and community-oriented work. One nominator writes “He models respect, intellectual openness, and care in his interactions, creating a space where students can ask questions, learn from one another, and pursue ambitious work without fear of judgment."
