Professor Jack Baker gave the Distinguished Lecture at QuakeCoRE’s 2023 Annual Meeting on August 29-31, 2023 in Napier, New Zealand.
Funded by the New Zealand Tertiary Education Commission, QuakeCoRE is a research center focused on transforming the earthquake resilience of communities and societies, through research, human capability development, and both national and international collaborations.
In Prof. Baker's plenary lecture, titled "Engineering models to support regional disaster resilience assessment," he described U.S. regulatory and research developments enhancing recovery from disasters as well as presented new recovery simulation models that utilize insights from earth scientists, engineers, and social scientists.
