Online and Professional Education

Main content start

Through Stanford Online, the CEE Department offers courses online as well as professional education programs to provide students with a variety of credentials. These programs offer educational opportunities intended to help students meet their personal learning goals, wherever they are in their life or career.

Taking CEE Courses Online

There are two ways to take CEE classes online. The first is as a Non-Degree Option (NDO) student and the second is through our Honors Cooperative Program (HCP).

Non-Degree Option: Students may enroll in credit-bearing, graduate-level courses from CEE prior to starting one of our in-person graduate programs whether they have been admitted to an in-person program or not. Students may also enroll in one of CEE's graduate certificate programs.

Honors Cooperative Program: Students who have enrolled in one of CEE's Masters Programs and would like to go part-time (i.e., to participate in an internship during the academic year and still takes courses online) may change their status at any time to HCP. See the Honors Cooperative Program Handbook for more information. HCP students are not eligible for assistantships and fellowships from the university since they enroll part-time. The CEE Department does not offer any Masters degrees that can be taken entirely online through the Honors Cooperative Program.

Professional Education

The CEE Department offers non-credit bearing professional education in the form of both Professional Certificates as well as executive education programs.

Professional Certificates

Our two professional certificates are the Idea-to-Market Program, providing tools, techniques, and real-world expertise to make your idea a reality, and Product Management: Transforming Opportunities into Great Products, where students will learn to use the product lifecycle framework to successfully manage a product, from launch to growth.
